This is the easternmost end of the City of Melbourne’s Greenline Project, and the entry point to a 4km journey along the north bank of the Yarra River – Birrarung.
This section, when completed, will transform the river edge with 450 metres of new boardwalks and promenades connecting native habitats with culturally significant new spaces.
The project will focus on reintroducing indigenous and native species into this landscape, diversifying planting to represent the river edge’s original environment and indigenous ecosystems.
The new trees, grasses and shrubs will bring birds, bees and butterflies to the area, and provide necessary protection and shelter to other wildlife.
The project will also make this section of Birrarung Marr inclusive and accessible for its human visitors, allowing people of all abilities to immerse in nature along the river's edge.
It also creates a new and exciting space for major events, while giving locals and visitors a new place to enjoy the very best views of the river.
