I am excited by the idea of creating and restoring wetlands areas. Making previously inaccessible river frontage usable is wonderful.
It would be great to understand what type of commercial retail you are targeting in new and revamped areas. Market style food and bookshops would be a great addition.
Good lighting at night along the pathway for safety.
Adequate lighting, especially at night, will be vital in this area - from this image I would be uncomfortable here at night (I am a 33yo female).
Native plantings will not only increase the park’s biodiversity but also be welcoming to the public and tourists alike, with the opportunity to learn about the pre-settlement history of the area.
Do not destroy the current access to the river swans and ducks who spend every spring and summer in the park charming both locals and visitors.
Maybe include some small shelter areas as the weather in Melbourne is quite exciting and changeable.
I especially love the wetland vegetation and would enjoy walking through there and seeing fauna living in that habitat.
Consider rise in sea level and how this will impact all activity and built infrastructure along the river and beyond. Is there more that can be done in this wonderful plan to mitigate inundation due to future rise in sea level?
Collins Wharf Park looks more interesting as a destination with more natural environment and scope to learn about culture etc.
